After years of dedication and hard work, you are approaching an important milestone—graduation. American National University is proud to celebrate this achievement with you. The Global Graduation Center is designed to guide you through the graduation process, from confirming eligibility to participating in the virtual commencement ceremony and receiving your diploma.
Graduation involves several required steps that must be completed in order to receive your degree and participate in the Global Virtual Commencement ceremony. The checklist below walks you through what to do and when to do it.
Step 1: Confirm Your Graduation Eligibility
Review your degree plan in the student portal to confirm your remaining credits and anticipated graduation date. All academic requirements must be completed prior to the ceremony date. Eligibility is based on program completion, earned credits, and institutional GPA, which may vary by program.
Step 2: Complete Required Graduation Tasks
Once you enter your final term and are deemed eligible, you will receive communication directing you to complete required graduation tasks. These include Career Services and Financial Graduate Exit activities, which help prepare you for career transition and ensure all graduation requirements are met.
You will also be asked to complete a Graduate Exit Survey. This feedback is important to the University and helps improve academic programs for future students.
Step 3: Access Career Services Resources
As a graduating student and alumnus, you have continued access to ANU’s career services, including the job posting portal. This resource allows you to search employment opportunities, connect with employers, and continue career development beyond graduation.
Access to the job portal is available through the ANU Student Single Sign-On using your student email and password.
Step 4: Order Graduation Regalia
Graduation regalia—including cap, gown, and applicable cords—is included in your tuition. Regalia may be ordered once all academic requirements have been met and your status has been updated to graduate.
When ordering, you may need the following information:
Orders cannot be placed before the end of your graduating term. Please note that regalia orders may take up to five weeks to process.
Step 5: Prepare for the Virtual Ceremony and Beyond
Participation in the Global Virtual Commencement ceremony is optional but strongly encouraged. Whether or not you attend the ceremony, your degree will be awarded once all academic requirements are completed.
After graduation, diplomas are ordered at the end of the term break and mailed to the address on file. Please allow approximately 45 days for processing and delivery.
